Meet Samuel & Stephen

The success of Union Green is founded upon the individuals that plan to call it home - and we are excited to turn this development into a reality for them. With 90% of properties already sold, we wanted to celebrate the Union Green community by speaking with future residents about what inspired their purchase, and what differentiated Union Green from the rest of the market. In this instalment, we speak with Singapore-based Samuel & Stephen who searched for property around the globe before deciding to relocate to Auckland and call Union Green home.

How long have you been in the property market?

About a year and half, looking across Singapore, America, Australia and NZ. We settled on NZ as we have close friends and family there and Stephen started to work with Fonterra meaning he was visiting Auckland regularly.

How did you hear about Union Green?

Stephen was driving to another property viewing last summer when he noticed the Union Green Billboard. When he was back in Singapore he looked up the website and the information fit the bill for our requirements. Stephen dropped by the showroom on his next trip to get a better understanding of the project and pick up all the materials for further review – once we had all the information it was quickly decided that this development was worth investigating as a serious opportunity.

What stood out about Union Green? What was different and special?

It met the minimum requirement of great views, accessible location and within our price range. Other areas that stood out for us include the open concept of the apartments, the location in an up-and-coming neighbourhood, and the emphasis on a green-friendly environment.

Which property within the development did you purchase?

We purchased a large three bedroom apartment on the 11th floor.

What are your occupations and where are you currently based?

Sam works with the International Trade Group of White & Case LLP and is based in Singapore. Stephen works at Fonterra and splits his time between Singapore and Auckland.

What is it about the Union Green community that appeals to you?

Union Green is in a location with easy access to good transport, restaurants and cafes in Ponsonby, the Viaduct Harbour, Victoria Park, and the CBD.

What do you think living in Auckland’s innercity will be like in two years time?

We think it will be quite vibrant and convenient with a mix of cultures and varying generations.

What are you most looking forward to when you think about moving into Union Green? Ease of lifestyle, views, no traffic, neighbours, local restuarants, walking to work etc?

We are looking forward to fantastic views, shorter commuting distances and proximity to great cafes, bars and restaurants. We are also looking forward to cooking homemade meals for friends and family using fresh local produce gathered from nearby organic farms and vineyards – basically, taking full advantage of the attractive NZ lifestyle.

Tell me what you imagine a great weekend while living at Union Green will include?

A great weekend would include enjoying coffee and breakfast on the balcony to enjoy the view, taking leisurely strolls to nearby suburbs and along the Viaduct, entertaining friends and family, and having easy access to transport options for weekend getaways to Waiheke Island and beyond.

What would be the first thing you’ll purchase to put in your new home?

Local NZ wines to stock the wine fridge – likely a dozen Man O’War reds and whites from Waiheke.
